BACKGROUND INFORMATION

KIPSOEN Technical and Vocational College (KTVC -Iten) was started in September 2019 and was Mentored by Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST). It is managed by a Board of Governors (BOG) under the general direction of the Ministry of Education State Department of Vocational and Technical Training. It operates under the Education Act cap 211 (1968) Laws of Kenya and the Science and Technology Act cap 250 (1977). Their vision in setting up the Institution was to promote the advancement of education and development in the region. So far, the Institute has played a significant role in youth training in the region. The training in the Institution is in tandem with the Government of Kenya of promotion of construction of affordable housing by training trainees in Building Technology among many other Technical Courses and The Elgeyo-Marakwet County Integrated Development Plan (EMCIDP). It is envisaged that this will facilitate capacity building of Human Resource to support and realize holistic development of the region and the country at large.

Mandate

The mandate of KTVC -Iten is to promote advancement of education and development in the region and the country at large through technical and vocational training, research, innovation and community service.

Objectives/Impact

  • To train trainees and trainers on pyrethrum farming.
  • Learning center for community.
  • Establish nursery for pyrethrum seedlings promotion
  • Establish model farm for farmers.
  • To promote economic empowerment of trainers, trainees and community.
